Carnival of Video Game Bloggers, February 2011

Welcome to the February 2011 edition of Carnival of Video Game Bloggers. Let’s get straight to the gaming goodness.

Reagan Carson presents 21 Excellent Video Games to Sharpen Your Mind posted at Masters in Counseling, saying, “Playing games and completing puzzles has been shown to help keep the brain fit at any age. Here are 21 video games that can help you keep your mind sharp.” There are some great puzzle games in here, as well as some others that you may be less familiar with. Take a look, see if you find something that tickles your fancy.

Brandon Boyle presents Thank you, Stewart Gilray posted at Pure Gold Gaming Gossip. Here you can read about the history and return of the series Oddworld. While I’ve never played it myself, it does sound like a pretty cool series.

Brandon Boyle presents Securing my Dream Transfer in Fifa 11 posted at Pure Gold Gaming Gossip. A quick recounting of one man’s journey through what sounds like a career mode in Fifa 11.

Eric Gargiulo presents First Madden 12 Features Announced posted at CamelClutchBlog.com, saying, “We aren’t even a week out of the NFL season and it is already time to start talking about the Madden 12. The Madden video game is getting a jump start and new Madden 12 features have been released. Let’s just say one of these new Madden options should make Sean Payton very happy.”  If you’re a fan of Madden, you’ll probably be excited to learn about the new list of features for the latest iteration in the series.

CriticizeThis presents I’m not a die-hard fighting fan. Should I buy Marvel vs. Capcom 3? posted at CriticizeThis. Here’s a quickie review of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I’m not sure I would knock the game so hard for just having an arcade mode for single player, but I will admit being quite partial to games like Soul Calibur that have robust story modes, so I can see where this comes from.

eric hoff presents Killzone 3: My Early Impressions posted at GameNTrain.com. Eric regales us with his experience trying out Killzone 3, and let’s his thoughts be heard. Apparently, review sites are too hard on this one, in his eyes. Nothing wrong with that in my view, as it makes high scores more meaningful, but I can still understand wanting to see games you like score well. Does sound like a pretty fun game for a shooter though.

eric hoff presents MW3 Coming November 2011 | GameNTrain.com posted at GameNTrain.com, saying, “2011 is a exciting year with upcoming games such as Gears of War 3, Ghost Recon and of course the latest Call of Duty. Infinity Ward are playing some part in the co-development of Modern Warfare 3 with Sledgehammer games and Raven Software, the lead developers which is rumored to be released this November 2011.” And here’s a preview of another shooter, this time Modern Warfare 3. Give it a read if you want to see what you can expect from this one.
